Today marks the last day of June and with that comes some of my favorite songs released this month – and maybe some oldies too.
The girls are back with yet another mini album and fans are not disappointed. I’ve never been a big fan of Apink but I definitely did enjoy their last album Dear.
The quartet is actually back as a quintet with the addition of new member Soyoung. It’s the
ir first time promoting as 5 since their debut in 2011. Is it a sign that this is their last chance? Because if it is, it’s really unfortunate for member Soyoung who just got the chance to debut.
For my first throwback thursday I gladly accepted album recommendations from my twitter mutuals and the first one that came up was Super Junior’s Sexy, Free & Single Repackage album Spy.
Putting aside all their problematic behaviours – that they apologized for years ago – Super Junior has always been coming out with good music and this 2012 album was no exception.
PS: Excuse the typos (if there’s any) I’m typing this on my girlfriend’s ipad and I’m used to writing on my computer so…
The Monsta X boys are back with a repackage album this time, a blind Kihyun and an expensive electricity bill. I know people wanted black haired Wonho back and I guess Starship kinda listened to Monbebes because his hair is green and black?
My favorite ladies of 9muses are back – even though it’s the same lineup as 9muses A. The lack of Sungah isn’t surprising as Star Empire hasn’t been doing anything to promote her at all.
The girls are back as T-ARA for one last time with the album What’s My Name? – even though it’s not the 6 of them because MBK and their secretary Kim Dani fucking suck. I would like to not thank Hwarat and her twin sister for stealing 5 years of their life as a group.
Day6 finally dropped their first full album, Sunrise, that includes some pre-released songs and the title track I Smile. The album even includes what they call a final version of their debut song Congratulations.
PS: I decided not to give my opinion on the MV since there’s actually a lot. I will still include them just for your pleasure.
Kpop star 6 contestant and new Playback member Ma Eunjin just had her solo debut with the song I Understand.
The r&b ballad track features singer D.ear’s soft voice to accompany Eunjin’s dreamy tone. I was quite surprised when D.ear started singing because I thought he was a rapper. It’s nice to have a collaboration that doesn’t include any rap and just a simple harmony between a man and a woman. During the last chorus, the beat slightly picks up and Eunjin’s voice takes the lead in the harmony, a good thing since it’s her song.
The MV doesn’t include the male singer, but we do get some nice still cuts of Eunjin looking sad while her man is walking away. And the house is really pretty, but that has nothing to do with the music.
I’m really excited for Playback’s comeback and I’m sure they will serve us another bop like they did in 2015 – it’s literally been almost 2 years. The addition of Eunjin’s soft but fresh voice can only be a good thing for the group.
Former I.O.I member Kim Chungha finally made her long-awaited REAL solo debut with the mini album Hands On Me. (I say real because she actually released a ballad called Week. But no one acknowledged it – including me. You can judge for yourself since it’s the last track of her album.)
